“You Haven’t Posted In a While”

Yeah… That is quite true. And there’s no great reason for it, it’s just how things have turned out.

The pandemic has changed how I live my life as a medical professional, my social life and how I can make content for mountain biking. Wet winters, supply shortages and people gobbling up any mountain bike products slowed me and stopped me to begin with, but as summer returns and some things are more readily available, I’m not in the same position as I was in 2019 to test and ride. I’ve lost fitness, riding skill and the over-analytical nature that drove me to review products as an amateur. Now I just want to ride a simple singlespeeder, my dual suspension, and eventually a gravel bike. My urge to test bikes like the new Trek Top Fuel versus the Anthem and Specialized Epic is non-existent.

This is more or less a resignation to this blog. I am in a comfortable spot in my life where I will be married in a few months/years, I have work to do and people to help, and mountain biking isn’t what’s going to get me out of a regular job and into YouTube stardom like most internet personalities seem to think. I want to be able to test and ride bikes, but I also need to spend time with family, working in my real job, and other hobbies. So with no more life posts and mountain bike content coming to an end, this blog may essentially cease to exist.

There will be some final posts. For instance I do want to have an amateur take on a few last things to do with cars, but after that I will no longer make new content. The blog will continue to exist because people still read life posts and the Rider Files years after they were made (the Trek Fuel EX and 26+27.5 Are They Dead seems to keep attracting traffic) but I also don’t want to keep writing half baked ideas in the hopes it garners attention like my most popular articles.

I would like to thank everyone that has supported me along the way, read a few articles and commented on them. But it’s time to wind down this little chapter of my life and do other stuff and things. It pains me, but these are the end times for this blog.

Until next time, keep safe and stay awesome!
